School Uniforms

Should students be required to wear uniforms to school?

I say no:

The reason that most people choose to have their school's students wear uniforms is because they are a private school and this often makes it so that students don't have to worry about wearing stylish clothes and don't have to be compared with other kids. Though most say that school is a privelage, and not a right...if it is a privelage then why are some kids forced to wear a uniform that isn't their choice. Everyone has freedom of speech/press ect.. and I think wearing what you want is part of that.

personlly, if the kids get made fun of because of their cloths, I say it's a good thing, this reduces the number of intesnce descrination, Like race, or religion, as Kids seem to go for the cloths before anything esle.

Individuality is a hard thing to come by. Even harder, I'm sure, if everyone's wearing the same thing. I had someone tell me that it was a good thing because now children with less money wouldn't get made fun of for having ragged clothes... but how exactly are these less fortunate children going to purchase the school uniform?
Granted, I'm sure the school would work with them... but still. It doesn't seem legit to me.
Though, I sometimes wish I got to wear a school uniform. I'd look ballin' xD

Still...backing down and wearing what everyone else is because you get made fun of is uncool. Its a sign of backing down, instead those people should wear it proudly. Individuality cannot be taken away by bullying

I have a school attire,its because allot of people where i am is gang related.
They believed that it would bring down school violence with wearing preppy clothes but it didnt.Its actually gotten worse

anyways i say no well because i hate it......


Note:Im in a "public" school and we have to have a certain attire ive had this school attire thing for two years.think of the little elementary schools,they wear a uniform with out even knowing what a gang is.This uniform thing is distributed throughout the metro city

Some people arnt even gang related.Im not gang related......I think,welll i dont go around representing gangs and stuff of the sort.

my opinion varies.. yes i believe schools should have the choice of a school uniform aswell as a chance to wear normal clothes, my old highschool we had this option and mostly because Juniors wore uniform and seniors had the choice of either uniform or normal clothes.
the seniors that chose to wear uniforms were particulary academics and excelled in all classes choosing to wear the uniform dignified their outlook towards the Juniors and seniors alike example(head boy, head girl representatives of the student body)
but i think you chould always have a choice in what you wear, and no strict code to abide by ^__^

i think the best school that provides uniforms... is when they prvide diffrent things of a uniform... for everyone to choose.. especially when its about seasons...
like diffrent lengths of skirts and trousers... and diffrent kinds of shirts and so on...

I would say yes.

Maybe it is beacuse i'm hitting 30's but i think is better for young kids to use them.

I belive it´s part of discipline education and it is really important nowdays, also.. prevents other kids to laugh at the kids that not had "good" shirts, pants, shoes, etc...; because as kids we all are stupid.. and did not realized how cruel we could be against other kids; once a friend told me that he found his brother having a nightmare about the new shoes that every kid want; so for making an equallity place is good everyone has their same uniform (yes, i know that even evrybody has the same face, the inner thougths will be not), so this equallity is for oportunities and respect.. and this is really important.

Yes indeed uniforms are lame, always the same.. but is just a facade... and they are only for school!!! 8 to 10 hrs per day, 5 days a week!!! ist not to much!!! a day has 24 hrs!! you can use anything you want at home! (even being naked ^^), and weekends uniform is no longer!.. so for me the the statement of "it's boring, or lame" is really a child complain.. sorry it is true!..i was also like that but then i understand how important could be..

the argument "ppl wont get bullied because of their clothes anymore" often gets undermined by ppl against uniforms with an argument like this: "but clothes are not everything, there are also still other reasons why ppl get bullied by others"
my answer would be "but then at least the point of clothing wouldnt take effect on bullies anymore... at least one reason would fall away...."

hmm... i dont see why bullies would pick on someone because of their clothes... ( i was never bullied at school...)

maybe if they wanted your clothes they would beat you up and steal your shirt/shoes/pants even underwear... not just beat you up because your clothes are ugly...
