Christmas

christmas is coming nearer and nearer...

tell how are you celebrating ^^
what do you do before...
what about presents?
have you some traditions?

i dont know how it is i other countries... but im telling you how we do it here.. in germany ... or telling for those that dont even celebrate it..

with the start of december... we traditionally have an "Adventskalender"
its some thing with 24 doors or lil sacks...
and everyday you open 1 of the doors
mostly there is chocolate inside... or some other sweets or there are also some with other stuff inside.. like lil toys
i might take a photo of mine ^^

and of course.. before christmas we have the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th advent... on sundays
there we have some wreath/garland mostly standing on the table with branches of the fir tree and 4 candles in there...
and on those 4 sundays before christmas we light on candle
on the 1st advent only 1, on the second 2, on the third 3 and on the forth all 4 candles... as some kind of countdown for christmas ^^
about 1 week before christmas we get a tree.. a living one

well.. in my family we the tradition... to gather together on holy eve at my grandma... and sit and eat and celebrate together...
there are my grandma, my mom and dad and me, my mom's both sisters with family
in the evening then we start to give out the presents... ( yes on the 24th )... but only those from the different families
therefor one sits down on some chair in the middle of the room ... starting with the youngest and ending with the oldest.... and the others start to give him the presents one after another.... mostly taking it on video XD
in the late eveinig everyone going home being happy with presents ^^
at home then my aunts family packs out their presents from each other..
my family opens them on the 25th in the morning... ^^
back then we usually also drove to other parts of the big family (my fathers parts) to give them presents and sit together and stuff ... but we dont do that anymore...

well.. thats all ^^

My family gets presents, has dinner the usual....nothing special.

i still cant imagine how you celebrate

theres nothing realy speahcel about it here....just another day...realy xept for some preasents and large meals. normaly we get together with family eather on christmas eve or day

so.. i still dont get...
do you get your presents on 24th or 25th december..

people come eat dinner presents people leave thats all

for my family we open 99% of them on the 25th but on the 24st my mom,dad, and siblings as well as me XD open Pj's from my grandparents who live on the other side of the USA

intel about like 2 or so weeks before Christamss everything is just like every other day of the year but about 2 weeks before christmas we start getting ready...eather buyign a live tree or useing our fake one we start decorateing buying preasents and bakeing cookies and stuff..just for an ecuse to eat them.and come christmas eve (December 24th) we open one present each from our grandmother we always have to open the Pj's. then on christmass eve we all have to stay in out beds intel at least 6:30 (wich me and the kids never do) and we can eat all the junk food in it as long as we have an orange o.0 then once rents wake up and my grandmother gets here (Great grand mother) we can finaly open teh gifts

In Mexico the Catolisim is the most populated religion, so all celebrate Xmas, but the partys start when december start.
Fisrt there are two important forms to celebrate the preparation for Xmas (yes, the preparation for, not Xmas itself), these are "Advent" (every sunday families have to ligth a candel with diferente colours, first a purple, the next red, then rose, and the nigth before Xmas white, this is a ritual to purify your souls to be free and clean to recive Jesus) and the next one is the "posadas" (spanish word) this are also rituals to recreate the path that Maria and Josheph went to find place in Nazaret, so...this 12 nights (i think), but mexican ppl, instead of praying and so, the ma parties for 12 nights with "piñatas" and everything... the comes the nigth of 24th called "Noche Buena" as the advent and "posadas" ends here, is a special ritual, and most of families have a dinner all together, and the next day 25 (xmas) kids and ppl recives presents from Saint Claus or Kid Jesus

I personally spent 24 nigth with my Mom's Family (long story, she remarried when i was 8 and so...) and the 25 and sleep all day long.. XD, I really do not celebrate Xmas, it is only 'cause it is important to Mom, if it is not i will go to a dance club or something like that, it is like in new years eve, i spent that nigth with my friends, cause Mom, go to her husband's mother house.

well first i have to decided where I'm going to christmas eve, and christmas day. I have dinner with my brothers ex on the 23rd to celebrate with them and her family since her son has to go to his dads on christmas day anyways.
I have to split my time up with my dad and mum.
Christmas eve we stay up till midnight and open our presents on midnight.
We used to do a huge party thing dureing the night and eat and celebrate together but we don't do that anymore. we don't really do anything anymore.
After opening the presents we go to sleep. then i go wherever i'm supposed to go christmas day and spend time with whichever family i chose that day and open presents again. Then go home and wish the day never happened. ^^
xD this year my dad went overseas so I have to choose between my aunt and my mum now. not like it makes much difference. hmm don't know what else to tell really.

poor goge... divorced parents seems to be pretty bothersome x.x
